Terrorists Attacked the Prison in Luhansk and Helped Eight Prisoners to Escape

The militants of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" helped eight prisoners to escape from the Slovianoserbsk prison.

Head of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine Serhii Starenkyi wrote about it on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"The terrorists who call themselves representatives of the self-proclaimed "DPR" attacked the Slovianoserbsk prison # 60 in the Luhansk region. Up to 20 people in two vans took part in the attack. They fired at sentries at two observation towers and tried to destroy the main fence, using grenade launchers. Towers were filled with smoke that came from flammable mixture and grenades. Sentries opened fire in response," Starenkyi wrote.

According to him, 8 prisoners used the situation when all the guards were protecting the institution and escaped by climbing over the main fence. Under the cover of militants' fire, the convicted managed to climb over the fence and then the terrorists retreated.

Police is searching for the escaped prisoners. There are no injured among the staff.
