Detained head of Russian propaganda outlet remanded in 2-month pretrial custody

"He was placed in pretrial custody until July 13, 2018," said a spokesperson for the Prosecutor's Office in charge of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tetiana Tykhonchyk, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

The article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason), under which Vyshynskyi was brought charges against, provides no preventive measure other than pretrial custody.

The propagandist’s defense asked the court to impose on him a pretrial restriction other than custody - for example, the 24/7 house arrest with obligation to wear an electronic tracking device.

On May 15, the law enforcers said they exposed network of Kremlin-controlled media outlets based in Ukraine and apprehended Head of RIA Novosti-Ukraine news agency Vyshynskyi. Russian Defense Ministry decorations and Russian pasport were found during the search at Vyshynskyi's apartment.
