Police in Russian-occupied Crimea detain well-known lawyer

Russian occupying authorities in Crimea arrested lawyer Emil Kurbedinov on charges of alleged demonstration of Nazi symbols.


Russian journalist Anton Naumlyuk wrote on social media, Censor.NET reports.

"Lawyer Emil Kurbedinov was detained by members of the Anti-Extremist Center on suspicion of [committing an offense punishable by article] 20.3 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi emblems or symbols, emblems or symbols of extremist organizations or other emblems or symbols, propaganda or public display of which is prohibited by federal laws). Kurbedinov was detained on his way from home to office. He was able to report his arrest no sooner than after being brought to the Interior Ministry Directorate. Lawyer Edem Semedlyaev is on his way to him in order to provide legal assistance," Naumlyuk said.
