Strengthening of Economic Sanctions Against Russian Federation Is not Planned, "Black List" Expansion Is Possible - Merkel

The EU is not currently considering strengthening of the economic sanctions against Russia.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced, Censor.NET reports citing Evropravda.

At the same time, she said, the "black list" of persons who will be banned from entering the EU may be expanded.

"Tightening of economic sanctions is not planned at the moment," she said.

Merkel also stressed the need to respect cease-fire in the east of Ukraine.

"We are focused on the humanitarian situation and on how to reach actual cease-fire," she said.

It was reported earlier that the EU would consider new sanctions against Russia Nov. 17.

EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy press secretary Maja Kocijancic noted that the EU agencies prepared various options of sanctions against Russia.
