Poroshenko thanked Merkel for the warm welcome and a truly strategic partnership between Kyiv and Berlin.
"Ukraine has passed a fundamental exam for democracy - the free and fair conduct of the election campaign. It received a very positive assessment from the international community as a whole and Mrs Merkel during our meeting," the president said.
He said that in the course of today's discussion, the Easter cease-fire was also supported, which will come into force on April 18, subject to ensuring its implementation by the Russian Federation.
Meeting participants coordinated the possibility of pressure on Russia in order to release 24 Ukrainian sailors as soon as possible.
