European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn congratulated Volodymyr Zelenskyi on victory at the presidential elections in Ukraine on Twitter.
"I congratulate the Ukrainian people on their show of democratic maturity and the President elect, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, on his victory," Hahn wrote.
At the same time, he expressed the hope that a new head of the Ukrainian state will fight against corruption more vigorously and will release the country from the capture of oligarchs.
Earlier the US Embassy in Ukraine congratulated Volodymyr Zelenskyi on winning the presidential election. Later US President Donald Trump confirmed his intentions to continue defending of Ukraine’s integrity during phone talk with Zelenskyi.
According to the National exit poll, Volodymyr Zelenskyi has 73,2%, while Petro Poroshenko got 25,3%.
The second round of the elections of the President of Ukraine kicked off in Ukraine on April 21, at 8 a.m. Ukraine’s polling stations opened as scheduled across the country with some minor delays, which were quickly addressed. The voting traditionally lasted for 12 hours; the polls closed at 8 p.m.
