Turchynov Proposes Dzhemilev and Shukhevych to Administer Oath to MPs Alongside Zviahylskyi

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov proposed the Preparatory parliamentary group to consider the possibility for the opening of the first session of the parliament of the VIII convocation and administering oath to the deputies to be conducted not by the oldest deputy himself – 80-year-old ex-Party of Regions member Yefym Zviahilskyi, but by "three distinguished representatives of different parts of Ukraine."

Turchynov explained that it would be a logical step to involve the opening of the first sitting of Parliament VIII convocation not only a "representative of the East Yefym Zviahylskyi, but also representative of the West Yurii Shukhevych and famous public figure, representative of republic of Crimea and Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev," Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Parliament.

"It is not contrary to the Constitution and Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Moreover, the swearing in of the parliamentarians by these three deputies would demonstrate the unity of the Ukrainian people and would remove a lot of the negative controversy voiced over this issue," Turchynov summed up.
