Poroshenko: Ukraine Will Be Preparing for EU and NATO for Six Years

President Petro Poroshenko predicts a referendum on Ukraine's accession to NATO after the necessary reforms.

He said this at a joint press conference with President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.

"We have developed at least a six-year plan of hard work in order for Ukraine to meet the criteria to join the European Union, to meet the criteria for joining NATO," the president said.

Poroshenko also noted that the requirements for the reform of the state to meet the EU criteria largely coincide with the requirements to be met for a country that wants to join NATO.

In turn, Grybauskaite said that her country is ready to share reform experience in the field of European integration with Ukraine.

The gradual transition of Ukraine to NATO standards by 2019 has been recorded in the coalition agreement.
