Russians Feel Deterioration of Economic Situation Due to Sanctions, Poll Shows

The majority of Russians (80%) acknowledge the growth of prices, reduction of quality of life and overall deterioration of the economic situation in the country, linking it, particularly with Western sanctions and falling oil prices.

This is shown by a survey conducted by Russian Levada Center, Censor.NET reports citing Evropravda.

14% did not notice any problems in the Russian economy. 6% found it difficult to answer.

The main reasons for the deterioration of the economic situation, according to the respondents are oil prices drop (45%), Western sanctions against Russia (33%), as well as the costs associated with annexation of Crimea (30%).

Some of the surveyed feel that among the mains reasons are government corruption, as well as certain peculiarities of the Russian economy, in particular the technical backwardness and the preservation of the Soviet industry structure (26%).

The survey was conducted Nov. 14-17 and covered 1,600 people in 134 cities of Russia.
