Poroshenko praised Ukraine's chief banker Hontarieva

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is satisfied with the work of Head of Ukraine's National Bank Valeriia Hontarieva.

He said it at a press conference, Censor.NET reports.

"I will speak frankly. I want to express my satisfaction with the NBU's head. The issue of stability of the banking system was a priority. The problems have been piling up since 2008. A huge number of politically covered dummy banks infected the entire system. Today, Ukraine is protected from this infection," Poroshenko stated.

He also said that one of the most positive news of the past year was Hontarieva's nomination for the title of the world's best central banker.

"I think the title says it all," the head of state added.

"As for the government's position, we have a procedure stipulated by the constitution. The president does not dismiss or appoint the Cabinet. This falls within the competence of the coalition. The issue of forming a professional Cabinet should be discussed," he said.
