Ukraine has one year to complete reforms, - Balcerowicz

Ukraine has one year left to complete fundamental reforms since after that it will be much more difficult to adopt strategic decisions due to the upcoming parliamentary campaign.

As reported by Censor.NET referring to UNIAN, this was stated by Advisor to the President of Ukraine and Co-Chairman of the Group of Strategic Advisors on the Support for Reforms in Ukraine Leszek Balcerowicz.

According to the expert, the reforms must be implemented as fast as possible, as 2017 will be the year before the 2018 presidential elections in Ukraine. He added that it would be increasingly difficult to adopt decisions on reforms with 2018 coming up.

However, Balcerowicz stressed that it was critical to adopt decisions in packages as the outcome of these decisions would be more obvious.

According to the former Polish official, Ukraine is seeing economic growth while its swiftness and duration will depend on the time spent to implement the reforms.

That is when the responsibility is shifted to the government but Ukraine is still running out of time, he stresses.
