"Horbatiuk opposes absentia trial of Yanukovych, which I'll never agree with," - Lutsenko on reasons for PGO restructuring

Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko disagrees with Serhii Horbatiuk, the head of PGO's Special Investigations Department, who believes that the trial of Ukraine's fugitive ex-leader Yanukovych should be conducted exclusively in his presence.

Censor.NET reports referring to Hromadske citing Lutsenko as saying.

"All economic cases necessary for the trial of the Yanukovych's gang will stay with the respective investigators and prosecutors. This is a forced step. Since Horbatiuk opposes an absentia trial of Yanukovych and says that only a trial in his presence is possible. I'll never agree with this," the prosecutor general said.

Lutsenko said that all the Maidan cases as well as the staff involved in their investigation will stay in the Horbatiuk's department.

Earlier, the PGO referred a big criminal case against Yanukovych to the newly created Organized Crime Office, with Horbatiuk keeping the investigation of all the Maidan cases.
