Poroshenko meets law enforcers, discusses Avdiivka escalation

President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with law enforcement agencies heads to discuss sharp escalation of the security situation in Avdiivka's industrial area in the Donetsk region.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the president.

Three key issues have been discussed: the security situation in the escalation area; the humanitarian situation and response to it, with the purpose to protect civilians; securing international aid and prosecution of Russian militants who launched combat operations against the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and civilian population.

Poroshenko said all measures should be implemented to heat 153 apartment buildings and 3,500 private houses.

"Upon my order, the military have unfolded everything, starting from winter tents and up to battlefield kitchens. The government has provided generators," the president said. He added that buses have been provided for voluntary evacuation of the civilians.
