VKontakte, Odnoklassniki social media must be banned in Ukraine, advisor to interior minister says

Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Zorian Shkiriak calls to ban VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social media in Ukraine as they are allegedly controlled by the Russian security services.

He said at a briefing in Kyiv today, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"2017 should be a year of Ukraine's information space protection against the Russian propaganda. Personally, I am convinced that one of the first decisions should be a ban on the Russian VKontakte and Odnoklassniki social media, which are now fully controlled and run by the Russian special services.

"Of course, I expect the Ministry of Education will also join this campaign and start explaining our students the dangers of these two social media through their professors, guidance counselors, and teachers," Shkiriak said.
