FSB detains Crimean Tatar activist Saliev in occupied Bakhchysarai. PHOTOS+VIDEO

The Russian Federal Security Service conducts search in the apartment of Crimean Tatar Seiran Saliev in occupied Crimea’s Bakhchysarai on Jan. 26.

Head of the Central Election Commission of Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people Zair Smedliaev wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

According to Smedliaev, the FSB members are raiding the apartment of Zodie Salieva and her son Seiran at 20 Myru Str. in Bakhchysaray. The armed persons identified by Smedliaev as members of Berkut riot police were spotted in the courtyard of the house.

"Seiran Saliev was taken to the Bakhchysarai police precinct. Cell phones were seized during the raid," Kurultai head later added.

According to Crimean lawyer Emil Kurbedinov, Seiran Saliev is a civil rights activist.

"He is a civil society activist who reported about raids in Bakhchysarai over the loudspeaker of the mosque (when Ilmi Umerov was arrested and taken away as a suspect in the case of Hizb ut-Tahrir) and was later fined 20,000 RUB (about $335) by the Bakhchysarai court. His mother Zodie Salieva is a national movement veteran," Kurbedinov wrote on Facebook.

It was later reported that Russian traffic police officers stopped the car of lawyers Edem Semedliaev and Emil Kurbedinov, who were heading to Saliev's house where the search was underway. They were subsequently detained by the FSB members.

According to the report, several dozen armed men in the courtyard were preventing residents from leaving the apartment house.

"The search is underway at home of national movement activist Zodie Salieva and her son Seiran. The FSB is conducting the search. There are several dozen heavily-armed men in the courtyard. Ordinary people have come to support the family. They say the law enforcers do not let Seiran's pregnant wife, who spent a month in a hospital over possible miscarriage and bleeding, to leave the apartment. She has been recently discharged from the hospital. The people faced rude and offensive behavior of the law enforcers when requested them to let her leave the apartment. The court earlier ruled to fine Seiran Saliev 20,000 RUB as he came to support Salachyk Cafe owner in Bakhchysaray during the search on May 12, 2016," journalist Elvina Seitbullaeva wrote.

As reported, Russian propaganda news agency RIA Novosti quoted Kremlin puppet in Crimea Zaur Smirnov as saying that FSB was carrying out a special operation to eliminate Hizb ut-Tahrir terrorist organization cell in Bakhchysarai.
