Relatives of the deceased, anti-terrorist operation veterans, volunteers and activists were among those present on the Mykhailivska Square where a memorial service for the fallen Ilovaisk heroes took place.
The service started with the anthem of Ukraine followed by a minute of silence and the "Plyve Kacha" song. After that, the mothers and wives of the deceased Ukrainian warriors made their speeches.
Ukrainians brought flowers and candles to the Memory Wall with the names of soldiers perished in the war with Russia.
People are singing Ukraine's national anthem.

In late August 2014, anti-terrorist operation forces were surrounded near the town of Ilovaisk in the Donetsk region after Russian troops crossed the Ukrainian state border. The corridor which the Ukrainian military had to use for retreat came under massive fire by Russian-terrorist forces. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, on Aug. 29, 2014 alone, during the withdrawal of the ATO forces from Ilovaisk, 366 Ukrainian soldiers died, 429 received wounds of varying severity, 300 were captured.
