The training is reported to have taken place under real-life conditions. The coordination of actions among law enforcement agencies authorized to fight terrorism, rescue services and authorities was practiced.
According to the scenario, "terrorists" armed with guns and explosives blew up a car, took hostages, barricaded themselves in the building of the International Exhibition Center and declared their demands.
Following a developed anti-terrorist plan, a special operations group apprehended the "terrorists" and released the "hostages." First aid was given to the "injured" while a bomb squad deactivated an "explosive device" found in the building.
First Deputy Chief of the SBU Main Office in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region Oleksandr Danylevskyi said the drills were a success and thanked all the participants for concerted action.
The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Kyiv on May 9-13.
